ORDER PROCESSING & PRICING FAQ
How do I place an order?
We’ve designed this website to make online ordering as easy as possible. If you would like to order prints or cards of an image that you find on our site, just click on the “Buy Print” or “Buy Card” link under each photo for print and card size options, as well as prices.
Your order will be handled by Foto Moto, one of the web’s leading online photo ecommerce providers. They will be responsible for processing your order (including contact and payment information), as well as ensuring your merchandise is delivered to your doorstep in a proper and timely manner.
If you have any additional questions, please contact us at admin@blackhistoryalbum.com or use the contact us link below.
NOTE: Please note that your purchased prints or cards will NOT include watermarks and other markings applied to most of the images posted on our site in order to prevent unauthorized use.
How much do you charge?
Our print prices range from $2.95 (for a standard 4×6) all the way up to $109.95 (for a super sized 30×40 display). Our photo, post and greeting cards range between $1.95 and $3.95. Due to the fact that we outsource our order taking and production process, as well as carry no physical inventory, our overhead costs are relatively modest compared to the typical local poster shop or even many online merchants with similar offerings. We’ve made it a point to pass on these savings to our customers. Please feel free to shop around and compare, before giving us the opportunity to serve you and earn your business.
How do I pay for my purchase?
Prices are in United States dollars. We accept all major credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. We do not accept cash, checks or money orders at this time.
Do you offer volume discounts?
We plan on offering special volume discounts to interior designers, store owners, restaurants, and others customers who purchase multiple prints with one order in the near future. Stay tuned.
To receive wholesale pricing (for resale), you will need to show that you are a retailer by providing a Resale Certificate, having a storefront or place of business, or otherwise adequately demonstrating that you are in a business suited for reselling our products.
You can get a hold of us at admin@blackhistoryalbum.com or via the contact us link below to discuss this matter further.
I do not live in the U.S. Can I still purchase photos?
Yes. We ship internationally, and we pack products professionally to make sure that they can be safely shipped to destinations far away. Please note, however, that many countries will impose a duty or tax at the time of delivery on shipments over certain valuations. We advise that you determine what customs in your country will charge you prior to purchase, as we don’t have the ability to determine these charges for every country.
SHIPPING & HANDLING FAQ
How will my prints be shipped?
All prints up to size 30″x40″ are shipped using flat packaging, rather than rolled up in tubes so common nowadays. We know our discerning customers appreciate this feature for the finest poster prints. You deserve this extra service at no extra cost.
How much do you charge for shipping?
Shipping costs will vary based on the size of your order and mailing address. It will be calculated at the end of the ordering process, prior to final submission. Unlike some, we do not profit off of shipping, and only charge you for the cost of shipping, packaging and insurance.
How soon can I expect to receive my merchandise?
Most orders are shipped within 24 to 48 hours after receipt of payment (excluding weekends). Actual delivery time depends on the shipment method that you selected during checkout.
PRINT QUALITY & SELECTION FAQ
What can I expect in terms of image quality?
The low-resolution images shown on our site are for illustration purposes only. All of our prints and cards, on the otherhand, are made from large, high resolution image files (up to 3000 dpi) scanned directly from the original archived source materials, including glass plates, large-format negatives and Kodachrome transparencies.
These historical images are themselves sourced from aged photographs which were originally produced 70 or more years ago and digitized for the purpose of making reproductions available only just recently. As a result, some of the images may show some discoloring, blemishes, scratches, tears, and fold marks due to aging or handling of the original photo before it was scanned and archived. We have spent considerable time and effort touching up and fixing such images so they appear as close to the original as possible. This editing includes tonal levels, brightness/contrast, color adjustments, cropping, and rotation. Yet despite our best efforts, some of the images may still contain a few “imperfections” which are visible to the naked eye upon closer examination.
How are the prints and photo cards made?
- Each print and photo card is custom manufactured at the time of order (typically within 24 hours). We don’t maintain a physical inventory of the any of the items that we offer for sale here on site. As a result, you can be assured that all of our merchandise is literally fresh off the presses, instead of being pulled from old stock that has been sitting on some shelf or in a warehouse somewhere collecting dust.
- All of our prints and photo cards are manufactured using state-of-the-art commercial photo processing equipment favored by professional photographers. We only use archival quality photo papers and inks, specifically formulated to retain their color up to 200 years. We do not traffic in low-quality, digital scans using ink jet printers often found for sale elsewhere on the web. Please keep this in mind when shopping our competition. Don’t except cheap imitations.
Will watermarks or other markings appear on the photograph I receive?
No. Any text and other watermarks found on the images featured on our site WILL NOT appear on prints or cards purchased by you. These markings are only applied to discourage unauthorized downloading and copying.
Are your prints available in different sizes and finishes?
Our prints come in a variety of sizes to meet your needs, including standard offerings such as 4×6, 5×7, 8×10, 11×14, as well as specialized sizes for our art prints and panoramic photos.
At present, prints are available in 3 paper finishes:
- Lustre – Professional, archival quality photo paper with a fine grain pebble texture, often described as “matte” in appearance, but with a richer look. This is the paper we would recommend for most prints.
- Gloss – Professional, archival quality photo paper with a glossy finish. Sharp, shiney and vibrant, this finish is typically more susceptible to finger prints.
- Metallic – Professional, archival quality paper with a high gloss finish and metallic appearance that creates images with exceptional visual interest and depth. Incredibly vibrant, they have to be seen to be believed. More info here.
