Black History Album (BHA) provides high–resolution digital files of original historic photographs useful for magazine and newspaper articles, websites, video, advertising, book covers, inserts, or simply hanging on your wall.

FILE TYPE

Our digital files are in high resolution JPG format with minimal compression, to facilitate downloading and transfer across the Internet. They are scanned directly from original archived source materials (glass plates, sepia prints, large-format negatives and Kodachrome transparencies). Image DPI ranges from 300 to well over 2000 in some instances. File size ranges from 2mb to 90mb

You can translate the files to TIFF format or CMYK to use for printing, or you can keep it a JPG and downsample it to 72 dpi for web uses.

IMAGE QUALITY

Our digital files are lightly edited to appear as close to the original as possible on our monitors, which may differ significantly from yours. This editing includes tonal levels, brightness/contrast, color adjustments, cropping, and rotation.

Whenever practical, the files are edited to remove minor blemishes or imperfections from the original photographs. Please keep in mind, however, that these images are sourced from aged photographs, and therefore may still contain blemishes, scratches, tears, and other imperfections visible to the eye upon closer examination.

We give you the ability to enlarge each image to examine how much of your own editing might be required.
